Audrey (Williams) Burton

Audrey Margaret Williams was born in Philadelphia, Pa on April 27, 1940 to the late Jessie Williams and William Lewis.

Coming up in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, Audrey attended Smedley Elementary School, Harding Middle School and graduated from Frankford High School. On Mondays and Wednesdays, you would find her at dance at the YMCA.

In 1952, Audrey met the love of her life Alphonzo Burton and they were united in marriage in 1956. From their union they were blessed with 7 children. Audrey worked for the School Board of Philadelphia for 30 years. After years of dedication and hard work she retired in 2002. 

As a young woman Audrey established a relationship with the Lord. In her most recent years, she was a member of Mt. Enon Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Edmund T. Sherill. She was a faithful member and served on the usher board until her health began to fail.

To know Audrey was to love her, she was a pillar in the 7th street Community! Although she faced many challenges in her life, she was loving, caring, giving and grateful. With a heart of gold if she had it you had it, if she didn’t have it, she still made sure you had it! She was willing to share or give with anyone who confined in her. But one thing about Audrey she was REAL, never sugarcoated anything and was very direct and straightforward, what she had to say she was going to say to you whether you want to hear it or not. There was never a dull moment in her presence. 

Audrey was proceeded in death by her parents Jessie Williams and William Lewis, her four Siblings Barbara, Wayne, Gloria and Robert; Children: André, Sharon and Troy; her grandchildren Akeem, Tiffany, Jamil Quadiyah; great- grandchildren My ‘Kee, Damien Jr. and Jamil and her great-great granddaughter Zhaka. 

Audrey leaves to cherish her memories and laugher with her four children, Valerie, Lisa, Audrey and Tracy; one sister in-law Mildred; one daughter in-law Michelle; three son in-laws Kyle, Javell and Jimmy; her to special nieces Robin and Karen; two special nephews Brian and Ronald; one special friend who cared for her David; 15 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
