THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF
BERNADETTE MARIE COLEMAN
Bernadette Marie Coleman was born on June 01, 1953 to the late Thomas and Pearl Muchison. She was called home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2020, at home with her loving family surrounding her.
Bernadette was born and raised in South Philadelphia; PA. Bernadette was the youngest of ten siblings.
Her formal education was received at Bok Vocational High School in Philadelphia Pennsylvania where she developed a skill in tailoring. Bernadette always had a keen eye for fashion, designing and decorating. Her skills allowed her to become a well-known seamstress and, event coordinator in Philadelphia Pa. She was also a homebased caretaker for neighborhood children, family and friends.
She was united in holy matrimony to Raymond L. Coleman to this union were born two children, Raymond and Terea.
Bernadette accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Philadelphia Pa. She later joined The Tasker Street Missionary Baptist Church where she was called to serve on the Usher’s Ministry. She looked forward to attending noon day service and Sunday services so much that she would take the children that she cared for daily with her until her health failed.
Bernadette had a big heart and a loving kind spirit. She would put you in your place and love you just the same. Bernadette was the life of a party at any given time. Bernadette loved her family dearly but most of all she had a special place in her heart for the children. She was called Aunt Bernie, Grand-mom, Mom and Sister to many. Bernadette would find any reason to celebrate life, leaving you with a time to remember by incorporating lots of food, good music, friends, family and all of her babies. Bernadette never hesitated to take care of anyone who needed a place to stay and a hot meal. She will be missed by many near and far. Her pet Doggie Child Moline will miss her deeply.
