Jerry Clark Wells was born on December 1, 1943 in Clinton, North Carolina, to the late Rayford Parker and the late Floretta Wells. He peacefully slipped into eternal rest on December 26, 2020. Jerry was educated by the Sampson County School District.
Jerry moved to Philadelphia in 1963. Shortly after moving, he began working at 2906 Pennsylvania Ave as a dishwasher. Later he was employed at AJ Nicolas making letters. His employer taught Jerry how to install deep well pumps which helped him gain employment at Smith Koch. He worked at Smith Koch for 35 years where he was an Erector.
In 1984, Jerry laid eyes on Ms. Gail Fulton. Before even speaking, he professed that she would one day be his wife. On December 31, 1987, Jerry and Gail became one and from this union came Jerry Clark Wells, Jr. Jerry accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in the year of 1985 under the late Pastor Ida M. Perry of the New Generation Church of Christ Disciples of Christ. Jerry was an example of the scripture found in 2nd Corinthians 5:7; Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Jerry later moved his membership to Vision of Missions Tabernacle Church where Apostle Van Z. Moore is the Pastor. Jerry was a faithful member. He served on the Deacon’s Ministry, Hospitality Ministry and anywhere he could put his hands to work. Jerry was the true definition of servant.
If you knew Jerry you knew his love for antiques, nature, fishing, hunting, baking and cooking. He thought he cooked so well, he bragged to everyone that he made it. Jerry had the best sense of humor and didn't even realize it. He could make you laugh without even trying. Jerry loved children. He spent a lot of time at New Arisen, where he was affectionately known as Papa. Jerry was loved by all that was in his presence.
Everyday Jerry would sit on the porch and read Proverbs 3: 5-6 while looking at the birds that took residence in his birdhouse. Until his last day, he trusted the Lord with all of his heart and did not lean to his own understanding. Jerry fought a good fight, finished his course, and he kept the faith.
Jerry leaves to continue to rejoice in the Lord; his wife Gail Wells, 4 sons; Jerry D. Wells (Angela Wells) of South Carolina, Lionel Wells, Jerry C.
