Our beloved, Joshua Thomas Gleaves Sr. was born October 12, 1988 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Deborah and Jonathan Gleaves.
Joshua was educated by the Philadelphia school district where he made lasting memories and numerous friends including one whom he considered more of a brother, Kevin Purnell. Joshua graduated Fel High in 2007, where he met his high school sweet heart, Cortney Johnson, who later became the mother of his first born child, Joshua Thomas Jr.
Joshua Sr. was introduced to Christ by his Grandmother/Godmother the late Elder Barbara Carter at a young age. He remained faithful to his belief throughout his entire life.
Joshua was a loving child who enjoyed being around family and friends. As a young
child Joshua had a joy for dancing like James Brown. He continued dancing and enjoyed battled dancing with friends as a teenager. Joshua always had a love for music and as a teenager enjoyed rapping with his older brother, the late Jonathan Gleaves Jr, who he called Theo. Joshua loved playing video games as well as basketball. He enjoyed watching all Philadelphia sports teams. Joshua also loved to watch movies and repeat all the popular lines with family and friends to keep them smiling. Joshua’s favorite movie was Lethal Weapon as a child, and as a young adult he enjoyed all of the Bad Boys series. After Joshua graduated from Fels high school in 2007 he obtained his first position at Kirk-Bride treatment center as a kitchen staff worker.
On November 2, 2008 Joshua became a father to his first born son, Joshua Thomas Gleaves Junior. Joshua later meet Marche’ Moorman, whom he loved dearly, and later shared their first born daughter, Joshayah Lenise Moorman, born October 23, 2009.
On January 4, 2011, Courtney Johnson gave birth to Joshua‘s second son, Jeremiah Trishtain Gleaves, who Joshua had envisioned in a dream before Jeremiah was conceived. Joshua obtained a position at Olive Garden in downtown Philadelphia where he enjoyed spending time working with his older brother Theo, making memories that he cherished when his brother passed.
In 2012 Joshua met Marcquita Wilson, who he loved dearly. On Nov. 1, 2014 she gave birth to one of his final two daughters, Jasmine Gleaves. On September 21, 2018 Joshua lost his older brother Jonathan Gleaves Jr. and decided to grow closer to his remaining family. In 2019 Joshua obtained a position at Fairmount Behavioral Health with his father, where he worked for the remainder of his life. Joshua‘s had an uplifting presence at Fairmount, where he was loved by his coworkers dearly.
On October 9, 2020 Joshua welcomed his final daughter, Jayanna Blu Gleaves, and named her after his brother who preceded him in death on September 22, 2018 . Joshua was loved by all of his children who seen him as their giant hero.

Joshua‘s legacy will be remembered and lived through his children and all of his relatives, cousins, adopted family and friends.
