Laurance Lee Obituary

Laurance Eldridge Lee was born on February 3, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Mary L. Lee and the late Lucius Lee.

Laurance was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System, he graduated from Olney High School, and furthered his education at Temple University.

He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age at Bright Hope Baptist Church where he was a member of Sunday School and he held the position of School Secretary. He also served in the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts Troop 576, and The Drumming Bugle Company during his youth.

Laurance was very intelligent; once he was asked to sit out of a class because he knew all the subject material that the teacher was teaching.  He spent that period of class in the principal's office. He loved math and excelled in it. Laurance had impeccable penmanship! To know him was to know his handwriting was superb!

He had a career in asbestos removal for several years. Laurance had many talents, every weekend he loved to work on automobiles with his son Lil Laurance, and grandsons Nazeer, and Tariq. He also loved doing plumbing jobs with his son Lamar.  And let’s not forget how he would paint your entire house and only charge you the amount for a case of beer!

Laurance married his high school sweetheart the late Wanda Lester at an early age; they were blessed with two children Kendall and Laurance.

Laurance was also blessed to have a loving and devoted son Lamar, and step daughter Tish with Maryann O’Neil, his lifelong friend.

Laurance was blessed to have a 49 year relationship with his life partner Celestine (Tina) Jackson- Lee which he married on August 28, 2006. They were blessed with daughter Lori Lorea, his step daughter Trina, and his (little girl, his heart) Tina Renee. Tina was very devoted to taking care of her husband and being by his side till he was called home.

Laurance and his cousin aka Budweiser loved football, he was an avid and proud fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team. He would watch football games with all of his sons and grandsons.

Laurance created a tradition of throwing Superbowl parties at Lil Laurance house where they would celebrate his birthday every year.

Laurance had a large then life personality. He loved to dress, dance, and was the life of every party! He would be on the dance floor until the last song played.

Laurance had an unbreakable bond with his brothers Alan, and the Late Tyrone Lee. Football Sundays would consist of lively debates as each brother thought their team was the best.
