Leava Corenda Brody-Sanford was the daughter to the late Morris Brody & Leava Mclntosh (a.k.a. Olivia Banks). Leava was born May 4, 1936 in Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of 7 siblings, Malcolm, Buela, Virginia, Bernice, Geraldine, Norma & Jacqueline.
Leava attended the Philadelphia school system. She went on to graduate with a LPN license from a Philadelphia nursing school in 1956. She worked at various hospitals, finally settling down and making her career at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She gave them 39 years of service before retiring. Her co-workers affectionately called her, "Mrs. B". During her working career she spent lots of time hanging with her co-workers & close friends (Ruth Weldon, Viola Bush and Juanita Champagne).
Leava met and married, the late Herman Leodis Sanford. He was the love oh her life. They traveled many places with friends and family, such as Las Vegas, New Orleans, California, New York, New Jersey and various other places. They also went on cruises which they enjoyed like The Bahamas and other Caribbean Islands
Leava loved watching 'Law & Order' and various other crime shows, along with ‘Wheel of Fortune'. She also loved reading novels, solving picture puzzles, and crossword puzzles as a great pass time.
Leava leaves to mourn, two daughters Leava & Maria. One son Herman, who preceded her in death (March 9, 2022). One loving son-in-law, Jameel. Three grandsons Timothy, Maurice, & Lil Jameel. One surviving sister Norma. Two great grands Jalen & Talayah, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be forever missed.
