Marquise Lee Edgerson Obituary

Our beloved Marquise Daquan Lee-Edgerson was born on Friday September 17, 1993 at 12:43pm to Linronda S. Edgerson & Raymond F. Lee in Osteopathic Hospital. He was educated in the Philadelphia School District graduating from Overbrook Elementary, Beeber Middle School & Overbrook High School. Marquise graduated from Overbrook High School in 2011 and attended Delaware County Community College and then transferred to California University of PA in January 2013.

Marquise at the age of 16 start his work journey working at International House of Pancakes (IHOP) joining his father Raymond & Stepmother Tanisha. Marquise from that time held many positions including Sprint and loved working at all of them. One of Marquise’s greatest accomplishments was his job working at Carvana in August 2018. While there, Marquise was one of the first employees to open The Tower.  His favorite car to drive and purchase was a Dodge Charger, however mom said no! Although Marquise loved Carvana for the huge variety of vehicles to be driven, his dream career was to work for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, otherwise known as SEPTA.

As a child Marquise loved trains, and as soon as he had his license for the required 3 years, he applied. His friend Brandon was a big influence in Marquise being hired at Septa, as Brandon was already employed with them and encouraged Marquise to do so and follow his dream. Marquise’s dream finally came true November 2019 and was approached his 1st year. Marquise said to his mom “One year down, 29 to go!”.

Marquise was a mama’s boy, everyone who knew and loved him knew that his mom was his greatest role model. Marquise also loved his sisters Kierra, Samya, Hamirah, & adopted sister Asha. Marquise loved his family…all of his family, biological and extended. Raised by his stepfather James West, Marquise had many male role models to look up to and become the great man that he was. He will always be James’s “doorframe”.  Marquise would never leave his mom or James and was always very protective of them. One of the reasons he never left home!  Marquise also loved his aunt Nafesa. He followed in her footsteps in her love of cars and education. Additionally, Marquise loved his aunt Rita & most importantly he loved his Grandmom Sharon, affectionally known as “Grandmom”!

Marquise also loved his friends. From the time he was in Junior High at Beeber to Overbrook High School, ending up at Cal U (Sharnell, Nicole, Chris (RIP), Marquis, Kira, Zakiyah, Michelle, Diarra, Ce’Asia, Ashley, Tanisha, & others)….he was quite the social one! Marquise held other friendships that turned into family from growing up in West Philadelphia. He loved Josh, Alexis, Brandon, Elida, Tiffany, Khalid, Stan, Joe, Gabby, E’bram, Rodney, James, Derek, Darryll, Alex & Whitney…Again, the amount of names here doesn’t describe how far and wide Marquise touched the lives of others.

It’s so much to say about our wonderful Marquise, there is not enough space nor time to express how much he will be dearly missed. Marquise leaves behind his mother Linronda, father James West, sisters Kierra, Samya, Hamirah & Asha. His grandmother Sharon, aunt Nafesa, cousins Tyquise, Kaylah, & Amira. Marquise leaves behind his extended family, cousins Rishad, Shamir, and a host of other cousins, aunts & uncles from the neighborhood. He also leaves behind his father Raymond F. Lee, stepmother Tanisha Lee, & siblings Quiande, Nasir, Raymond Jr., Tarae, & Nathan.

Last but not least, Marquise leaves behind his two boys (who he is most proud of), Risky & Oshea.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34 NIV
